Practical test for fork lift truck operators (7)

fork lift operator test step 7After picking up the load from the low stack, the truck is driven in reverse for the last time through the chicane.

The load is deposited parallel to and within 150 mm (6 inches), of the vertical face shown. {Note: Undercutting is allowed at this point if the forks are substantially longer than the load. The same argument applies when picking the load up at the start of the test}

The truck is now reversed back to its starting position and parked properly. The key should be removed and many instructors will insist it is given back to them else a penalty will occur.

The test must be completed with no more than 40 penalty points being scored in order to achieve a pass.

Please note. This test works on a penalty point system. There are three categories of fault as follows:

  • Minor faults, (e.g. adjusting position etc), penalty = 1 point
  • Medium faults, (e.g. gentle touches of the course etc), penalty = 3 points
  • Serious faults, (e.g.. reversing without looking), 5 points
