Raised centre of gravity on a forklift truck

If the load is now raised to the stacking position, the centre of gravity of the load will also rise although only by a small amount. It can be seen that placing a load on the forks and then raising that load causes the centre of gravity of the truck and load to move forwards and then upwards. It is well known that objects with a higher centre of gravity have a greater tendency to turnover but that is not the end of the story.
