Further precautions when entering the pallet

pallet truck wheels

A problem can occur when lifting the load due to the way the wheels in the pallet fingers are raised. The usual arrangement is that the wheels pivot just under the fingers and steel rods attached to the body of the truck push and pull the wheels backwards and forwards resulting in them raising or lowering.

In order for this to work the wheels must be in line with a gap in the bottom of the pallet. If they are not in this position the effect of the wheel rising can break the pallet. Trainees should be made aware of this point.
