Check and top up engine oil if necessary

On forklifts fitted with internal combustion engines it is necessary to check the engine oil regularly. This is accomplished in exactly the same manner as it is on cars and an examination of the engine compartment will usually reveal a dipstick like the one shown here.

The oil level should be checked only when the truck is on level ground. Remove the dipstick and clean it with a rag. Re-insert it and check the oil with reference to the marks on the dipstick. Arrange for the level to be topped up if necessary. Make sure that the correct oil is used
