In the picture above stack B is the high stack, stack C is approximately lorry bed height, stack A is on the floor and stack D is a bulk stack made up of two loads taken from position C. The test sequence is as follows:
The operator mounts the truck and tests the overload system.
The load at ground level is picked up from by the vertical face and the telehandler is driven forwards through the steering course.
The load is then deposited at B
Loads at C1 and C2 are picked up, one at a time and deposited onto stack D which must be at least 20m away from location C. (At least one of these loads must involve the use of the telescopic boom)
The remaining load at C is now picked up and the telehandler is reversed through the steering course
The machine is now driven forwards through the steering course and the load put back at C where it came from
The two loads at D are picked up in turn and deposited back on C
Finally the load at B is now picked up and the machine is reversed through the steering course. The load is now stacked where it started out 150mm, (6 ins), away from the vertical face.
As with conventional forklift trucks, training is not complete until both specific job training and familiarisation training has been carried out in accordance with ACOP L117. This may well include the use of buckets and the like which require many different techniques.
Both specific job training and familiarisation training should be carried out before operators are considered fully trained.
