assessing the task It's not just about how heavy is it? As can be seen from previous slides there are many things which can affect the safety of the manual handling task. Starting with the person themselves you might have:

To adopt a bad posture
To keep up with machinery
To have someone assist you
Not enough strength
Health problems
General health/age problems

You are obviously not going to stand there for hours trying to assess the task but the items listed can be decided very quickly.
