workstation layoutI just had to include this as I was a draftsman in the sixties and remember only too well before the days of manual handling regulations, the effects of a drawing board angled like the picture on the left. Even as a young apprentice I used to get bad backs!

It's quite obvious looking at the problem with the employee's health in mind that an item such as a drawing board should be angled as shown in the right hand picture.

Having said that, most people involved in design use a computer nowadays and in these cases employers should be aware of the Display Screen Regulations which were also part of the "six pack" regulations from which the Manual Handling regulations came.
