manual handling injuries
When one thinks about manual handling injuries the subject of bad backs comes to mind. Whilst it's true that back injuries are the most serious usually there are other injuries associated with manual handling. These are:
-
Sprains and strains. A sprain is different to a strain and more serious
-
Torn muscles and tendons. Quite rare but possible
-
Worn joints. Usually caused by repetitive actions
-
Cuts and grazes often caused by contact with the load being handled
-
Bruising often to legs when a load is dropped
-
Hernias. Much more serious and often needing an operation to correct
-
Back injuries which are covered in more detail on the next few slides
