Sideloader practical operator's test
Shown above is a plan of the practical test course for sideloader operators. In practice this is usually an aisleway with loads, such as packs of timber, on either side. Although I have shown a chicane here similar to the counterbalanced forklift test, in practice, driving a sideloader through a chicane is impossible. The "chicane" therefore is usually represented by an adjacent aisleway and connecting aisleway using pallets, (or similar), to restrict movement.
The sideloader itself starts to the right hand side of the chicane where the letter B is shown. It should be properly parked with the forks down and the tips resting on the floor if possible.
