Manoeuvring close to stacking position
Sometimes it is not possible to get close to the stack when driving forwards resulting in the operator having to undercut the load. Trainees should be taught the alternative way of getting close to the stack by reversing into position.
This is done using the same technique to that used by car drivers when reversing into a parking space. The machine is taken past the intended stack and then reversed into position at the stack. By using this technique, operators can get much closer to the stacks than they can when driving forwards due to the front wheel steering configuration.
